Little Darlin

I’ve been really lucky to do some serious international traveling in the last year. Once as a student, once with my family, and once totally on my own. For two of those trips, I was totally responsible for my own finances, and was forced to make some tough decisions I would later regret (choosing a trip to the Philippines over one to Vietnam based on plane ticket prices, for example. They can’t all be good decisions, friends). But such are the joys of traveling on a budget!

So I have been reading the Frugal Traveler with some interest lately. The New York Times column has a new cheap-o adventurer, Seth Kugel (above). Kugel is about to take a three month journey throughout South America with only $500 a week in his pocket. I’ll be taking notes.

Read all about it here.

Get set to grab a copy of the New York Times Magazine this weekend. The newspaper of record shot 13 Olympians in custom-made Rodarte knits. Above is skater Johnny Weir, in what is perhaps the most appropriate fusion of sport and high fashion ever.

The magazine comes out Sunday.
